William D. Miller, 83, of Indian River , died Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Bortz Health Care Center in Petoskey. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. He was born in Ypsilanti , MI on Nov. 15, 1929. He was the son of Andrew and Ila (Horne) Miller. He was a veteran of the US Army and after his honorable discharge he went to work of Kaiser/Fraiser in Ypsilanti . In 1949 he married the former Eleanore Cook and the couple made their home in Ann Arbor . William retired as a detective for the Ann Arbor police department in 1981 after twenty seven years of service. In 1986 he and Eleanore moved to Indian River . Besides Eleanore, William is survived by his children, Steve (Catherine) Miller of CA, Randy Miller of Ann Arbor, Cindy Miller of Indian River; grandchildren, Sam and Henry.
