Fredrick M. Stevens, 76, of Koehler Township, died Tuesday, March 4, 2013 at McLaren, Northern Michigan in Petoskey. A memorial service for Fredrick and his wife Betty will be held at a later date.

Fred was born May 1, 1936 in Kalamazoo, MI. He was the son of Fredrick T. and Marjorie L. (Myers) Stevens. He grew up in Kalamazoo and graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School

On March 8, 1958 he married the former Betty E. Scott in Kalamazoo. The couple made their home in Portage. Fred retired as a chemical operator at Upjohn Pharmaceutical Company in 1998. At that time the couple moved to Indian River where they have been since. Betty preceded Fred in death on February 10, 2013.

He was an avid outdoorsman and a member of the Indian River Sportsman’s Club.

Fred is survived by his daughter, Annette Mitchell of Portage, Michigan; grandchildren, Alexander and Matthew Mitchell, Jade and Char Stevens; brother, Michael (Fran) Stevens of MI. Besides his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his son, Mark Stevens on Jan. 31, 2011.

Memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of choice.
