Alice (Keyes) Cardinal

Alice M. Cardinal, 82, of Cheboygan, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Tendercare of Cheboygan.

Alice was born March 19, 1935 in Gilford, Michigan, the daughter of Charles and Leona (Thayer) Keyes.  She grew up in Gilford and attended Fairgrove Public Schools, and on April 2, 1960 in Gilford, married Jack G. Cardinal.  She was employed at Cheboygan Community Hospital for over 20 years in housekeeping, also had extensive flower gardens, and in her neighborhood, was known as the “flower lady”.  Alice loved spending time with her grandchildren, taking them on trips and to the beach, and traveling downstate to visit relatives.  She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and very involved in church activities.

Surviving are two sons, Mark (Brenda) Cardinal of Cheboygan, and Christopher (Shelly) Cardinal of Marine City, 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, a sister, Peggy (Robert) Streeter of Saginaw, two brothers, Carson Keyes of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Bill (Nancy) Keyes of Gilford, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Bertha Johnson, and Dorothy Laterell, a sister in law, Garlyce Keyes, and two brothers in law, Forrest Johnson and James Laterall.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 6, 2017 from 11:00am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00pm, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Cheboygan.  The Rev. Dr. John Bailey will officiate.
