Audrey Merle (Walsh) Rhudy

Audrey Rhudy, 94, of Petoskey, Michigan (formerly of Spokane, WA.) went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Mallard Cove, surrounded by her family.

Born September 6, 1922, in Scarborough, Canada, she was the daughter of George and Winifred (Mander) Walsh.   In 1954, a high school friend urged Audrey to move to San Francisco, California, where she worked as a secretary at Remmington Arms.  In San Francisco, she would eventually meet her husband, Kenneth Doty Rhudy, and the two were married on August 25, 1956.  In 1959, they moved to San Diego, CA. where she was a secretary for Kenneth’s financial planning business.  She proudly became an American citizen on May 27, 1966. Longing for an area with four seasons, they moved to Spokane, Washington in 1972, where she worked as a secretary for Grange Mutual until her retirement in 1982.  Audrey was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and was active in many activities including the Quilting and Altar Guilds.  

Audrey is survived by her sons, Don Kenneth, and his wife Martha (Petoskey, MI); Fr. Steven (Anniston, AL), and Jeffrey (San Ramon, CA).  She is also survived by her grandchildren:  Scott Kenneth, Amy Alice, Nicholas Andrew, Cana Henry (Fr. Basil), Peter, Jennifer Nadell (Scott) and Sarah Righetti (Ed).  Audrey’s sister-in-law Joyce, also survives.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents George E. and Winifred Clarice.  Her loving husband of 43 years, Kenneth Doty Rhudy also preceded her in death.  Siblings Eileen Rita Chapman (Harvey), George (Margaret), Hazel Mitchell (Gordon), William “Ted” Edward (Joyce).  Audrey’s Daughter-in-law Jedonne also preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held at Mallard Cove on August 31st at 3 p.m.   Officiating the service will be Pastor Robert Cook.
