Chester "Chuck" Bernard Studzinski

Chester “Chuck” Studzinski, age 90, died October 25, 2016.

Beloved husband of Sylvia (nee Sawicki), dearest father of Donna (Joe) Stilwell and Matt, proud grandfather to Genevieve (Robert) Numerick, Daniel (Cindy) Kujat, Linzee and Zachary, and “Papa Chuck” to three great-grandchildren, Abraham, Abbey and Gabriel Numerick, whom he adored.

He was brother to the late Charlotte (Robert) Friend, the late Leo (Joan), and the late Edmund (Rita). 

Chester served in the United States Navy in WWII on the LST 1106, and after the war joined the Detroit Police Department.  He married Sylvia Sawicki on March 2, 1957 at St. Stanislaus in Detroit.

Chester retired from the Detroit Police Department at the rank of Sergeant after 26 years, and went on to serve as a police officer in the Bloomfield Village Police Department before retiring a second time, 13 years later.  He moved to his beloved second home in Harbor Springs in 1991, where he would enjoy golfing, fishing, tending to his house and lawn and attending daily mass.

He was an active volunteer and member of St. Francis Xavier Parish.  He was well known and admired for his faith, his integrity, his strength and his sense of humor.  He loved sports, especially skiing and golf, as well as travel and music.   

Visitation will be Friday, October 28th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey.  Viewing will be Saturday at 9:30 am with Mass following at 10:30 am at St. Francis Xavier Church in Petoskey. A graveside service will immediately follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be directed to the St. Francis Xavier School Scholarship Fund or to Brother Dan’s Pantry in Petoskey, Michigan.
