Christopher Ernest Bell

Christopher Ernest Bell “Pa”, 66 of Cheboygan passed away on September 7, 2017 at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey.

Christopher was born on July 29, 1951 in Detroit, MI, the son of Raymond Bell and Audrey (Johnson) Bell. He grew up in Detroit, MI and attended school at Henry Ford High School in Detroit.

On May 20, 1983 he married Janice Cripps in South Lyon, MI. They later relocated to Cheboygan where he opened his own business, Bells Garage, where he worked as a diesel mechanic. Christopher was a diesel mechanic for 42 years. He also worked for Walstrom’s Marine and as a mechanic for Starline Cruise. Christopher served as a volunteer firefighter in both Cheboygan and South Lyon for many years. He also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and Boy Scouts of America. He served as the president of the Kiwanis club for one year, as well as the president of the Cheboygan Sportsman’s Club.

Christopher is survived by his wife Janice Bell, children Colleen (Dennis) Hulgan, Pam (Jeff) Kruszeuski, Sandy (George) Chorey, and Gary Beckwith, 12 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Audrey Bell, infant granddaughter Kristina, and infant great-granddaughter Annabelle.

Services for Christopher will be held on Monday, visitation starting at 10am, funeral at 1pm at the Nordman Christian Funeral Home with Fr. Duane Wachowiak officiating.

Anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution should consider the American Cancer Society or the Bishop Baraga Catholic School in Cheboygan.
