Coramae Brodeur

March 7, 1927 ~ July 1, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Coramae I. Brodeur, 90, of Clinton Township, formerly Cheboygan, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Macomb McLaren Hospital in Mt. Clemens, Michigan.

Cora was born March 7, 1927 in Muskegon, the only child of Earl and Cora (Scrimger) Isgrig. She grew up in the metro Detroit area where she graduated from Edwin Denby High School in 1944. She attended the University of Michigan where she earned her Bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate, and later taught in the public schools in Detroit and East Detroit. She married Russell Bauer in 1950 and they had two daughters, C. Renee (Bauer) Jarmolowicz and Beth A. (Bauer) Pavlik. Upon her retirement, she and her second husband, Les Brodeur, moved to Cheboygan. Cora was a member of St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church, where she also sang in the choir. She enjoyed music very much, and as a youth appeared on the Children’s Theater of the Air, which was staged at the Regent Theater in Detroit, and later moved to the Broadway Capitol Theater. At that point the show was aired at noon every Sunday over WXYZ radio.

Surviving are two daughters, C. Renee Jarmolowicz of Roseville, and Beth Ann (Joseph)

Pavlik of Clinton Township, three stepchildren, Jeanne (Brodeur) Robinson of Clarkston, Michelle (Brodeur) Valicevic of Wyoming, and Gary (Lori) Brodeur of Harper Woods, along with grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Cora (Scrimger)

Isgrig, her first husband, Russell Bauer, and her second husband Les Brodeur.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017, from 3:00-8:00pm with a scripture service beginning at 7:00pm, at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home in Cheboygan.

The funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 11:00am, with the family greeting friends beginning at 10:00am, at St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church in Cheboygan.  Rev. Duane Wachowiak will officiate, and burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery in Benton Township. 

Memorials may be made to Bishop Baraga School or Cheboygan Catholic Community Campaign.
