Daryl Kann, 90 of Charlevoix, MI., peacefully passed June 20, 2017 at Boulder Park Terrace in Charlevoix, MI.

Daryl was born June 18, 1927 in Fairfield, Iowa the son of Flossie Miksch and E.R. "Ted" Kann. He grew up in Fairfield, Iowa and attended school at Fairfield Community High School. He was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge in Jefferson County, Iowa.

On June 19, 1949, he married Eleanor Packenham at the First Methodist Church in Fairfield, Iowa.

Daryl proudly served in the United States Army from January 16, 1953 to December 24, 1954 during the Korean War.

In later years, he moved to Marshalltown, Iowa where he did lawn care until a stroke caused his retirement. After the death of his wife Eleanor in 1990, Daryl married Twyla Hass who also preceded him in death.

Daryl was a member of the First Methodist Church in Fairfield, Iowa.

He was a faithful husband, loving father, Korean War Veteran and an honest hard-working Iowa farmer.

Left to cherish his memory are three daughters, Darla (Dave) Jordan of Marshalltown, Iowa, Sheila (Gary) Biggs of Petoskey, MI., Vivian (Ed) Smithburg of West Olive, MI.; seven grandchildren, Jeff Peoples, Daniel Peoples, Annie Rauhaus, Jennifer Cassel, Mandie McKay, Joshua Smithburg, and Jessica Tuin; 13 great grandchildren Abbie, Ashley, Isaac, Audrey, Isaiah Rauhaus, Jessica Cassel, Jason McKay, Logan, Eli, Orion Smithburg, Owen, Ella and Hazel Tuin; also, step children, Don Hass, Glenda Norman, David Hass, Danny Hass, Dennis Hass and Richard Hass; 16 step grandchildren; and 27 step great grandchildren.

Pastor Gary Biggs of the Landmark Baptist Church of Petoskey will officiate and a memorial service to be held on July 7 at 2 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield, Iowa.
