David William Chenard

David William Chenard, 54 of Boyne City, formerly Las Vegas, Nevada, died March 28, 2019.

David was born in Manistique, Michigan, the son of Frank and Sandee (Campbell) Chenard. He was a graduate of the 1983 class from Manistique High School.

After graduation, David joined the United States Air Force. He completed his training in San Antonio, Texas and was deployed to the Philippines.  He lived all over the country, from Chicago, Florida and California and predominantly the northern Las Vegas area for over 20 years.

In 2017, he decided to move to Boyne City to be closer to his family, especially the apple of his eye, his niece Lucy. Northern Michigan was a good fit for David because he liked being outdoors, whether it was fishing, boating on Walloon Lake, or golfing. He found pleasure in some of life's most simple things, like feeding the deer and birds in his yard, smoking a nice cigar and visiting with family. More than anything he loved to play music. He was an extremely talented songwriter and guitar player. He was a dedicated and loving son, brother and uncle.

David will be sorely missed by his family; his mother, Sandee Burton; father, Frank (Cathy) Chenard; sister, Michelle Chenard; step brothers, Jeffrey (Heather) Haupt and John (Keely) Holbrook; beloved niece Lucy Chenard; his aunts and uncles, Scott (Tee) Campbell and Peter (Sallie) Chenard; and special friend, Lodee.

He is preceded in death by his step-father, Bill Burton; aunt, Olive Marshall; and grandparents, Ken and Ethel Campbell, Tom and Margaret Brennan and Peter Chenard.

There will be a gathering of family and friends at Stone Funeral Home in Petoskey on Friday, April 5th, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
