Dessa-Jo Forster

Dessa-Jo Erica Forster, 18 of Petoskey, passed away on October 15, 2017.

Dessa was born on July 22, 1999 in Traverse City, Michigan and was an answer to her parent’s, Peter and Dianne (Kluge) Forster, prayers.  She was raised in Petoskey and attended local Public Schools.  She was a Senior at Crooked Tree School. 

She enjoyed jumping off the break wall, 4-wheeling, and camping with her family and friends.

There are so many sides of Dessa.  She was funny, goofy, crazy, impulsive, passionate, and her friends often said she gave off a “happy hippie vibe”.  Dessa embraced people regardless of race, creed, or orientation, she also had a deep-seated belief in the sanctity of life.   She valued her friends deeply, always had a heart for those that were hurting and always looked out for the underdog.  She would bring home friends in need and always made sure they were cared for, whether it was with food or with counsel and consoling.  She knew how to love and she did wholeheartedly.    And while Dessa was always giving, she was also very grateful for her family, friends, and all she had.  This she embodied and proudly showed off in her tattoo which was the symbol for gratefulness.  She will be deeply missed by all those that she met and had the benefit of celebrating the gift that was her life although a brief 18 years.

She is survived by her parents, Peter and Dianne Forster; brother, Jack; sister, Kris; grandma, Joan Kluge; and by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family will receive friends at the Walloon Lake Community Church on October 23rd beginning at 11am.  Services celebrating Dessa's life will be held at 1pm at the church with Pastor Norm Byers officiating.

Arrangements are in the care of the Stone Funeral Home of Petoskey.
