Diane L. (Norberg) Barrett

Diane L. Barrett, age 79, of Cheboygan passed away Thursday April 12, 2018 at McLaren Hospital in Petoskey. She was born January 4, 1939 in Detroit, the daughter of Albert and Yvonne (Dufor) Norberg. She attended Pershing High in Detroit and married Richard “Dick” F. Barrett in Cheboygan on January 28,1957. They celebrated 54 years of marriage before Dick passed away on October 30, 2011. Dick and Diane had no children of their own but they raised three of Dick’s minor siblings (Susan, Joseph, and Michael) after the death of Dick’s father.

Diane worked at GM headquarters in the tax department until 1986 when they moved to Cheboygan. They then purchased and operated the Flame restaurant until 1997.

She is survived by three sisters Gloria (Richard) Lawes, Kristine Szajnie and Krystal (Michael) Dickenson and one brother, Robert (Linda) Norberg, many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband Dick, Diane was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Albert, David, Wilhelm, and Eric Norberg and her brother-in-law, Fred Szajnia.

No services are planned at this time.  May she rest in peace.
