Diane L. Ellman, 69, of Petoskey, Michigan, died February 8, 2016 at Hiland Cottage.

Diane was born October 1, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of John and Margaret Dickerson. She grew up in Detroit.

On April 10, 1965, she married Gerald Ellman. They moved to Petoskey in 1971. Together the Ellman's opened Mitchell Street Pub in 1976 and both retired from the business in 2005.

Diane enjoyed playing Pickleball and mah jongg. She was an avid reader and a member of the Douglas Lake Book Club.

Diane will be remembered for her courage, dignity and grace. She fought many illnesses throughout her life with a bravery few people have.

She was loved by many people including her husband of over 50 years, Jerry Ellman; her daughter, Lauri Ellman (Larry) Hoffman; granddaughter, Lucy Jane Hoffman; and grandson, Lyle Thomas Hoffman.

The family suggests memorial donations in Diane's memory to Karmanos Cancer Institute and Hospice of Little Traverse Bay.

A memorial service will be held at Stone Funeral Home, June 18, at 11 a.m. with a visitation starting at 9 a.m. Rev. Dave Behling will officiate the service.
