Dolores (Passeno) Pennell

Dolores A. Pennell, 80, of Cheboygan, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 at her home.

A lifelong resident of the area, Dolores was born April 17, 1936 in Cheboygan, the daughter of John and Rose (Merchant) Passeno.  On July 15, 1965 in Alpena, she married Donald Pennell, who preceded her in death in 1988.  Dolores was employed for many years at the Cheboygan K-Mart, and also Cheboygan Memorial Hospital in the cafeteria.  She also was a member of St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church, and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, birdwatching, and flower gardening.

Surviving are her children, Richard Pennell, and Johanna (Jerry) Groce, both of Cheboygan, four grandchildren, Amy Battice, Erica Pennell, Joshua Groce, and Debra Groce, two great grandchildren, Adam and Jace Clark, her siblings, Rose Marie (Charles) Ketner of Paris, Illinois, Marjorie Thibeault, Walter (Diane) Poirier, and Cheryl (Dale) Reed, all of Cheboygan, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald, a son, Mark, two brothers, Charles in infancy and David Passeno, and a sister, Dorothy Lancour. 

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 27, 2016 at 11:00am, with the family greeting friends beginning at 10:00am, at St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church.  Rev. Duane Wachowiak will officiate, burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. 

Memorials may be made to the St. Mary/St. Charles Elevator Fund.
