Donald Lee Burkhart

Donald Burkhart, 62, of Brutus, Michigan, died November 18, 2015 at Hilltop Manor in Roscommon.

Donald was born on February 11, 1953, the son of Jonas and Ruth Burkhart. He grew up in Pellston and was a graduate of Pellston High School.

On April 16, 1988, he married Theresa Nardone. Together, they had two daughters, Nicole and Casey.

Donald started his own business, Don Burkhart Construction, in 1988 and ran it successfully for 22 years.

He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling and boating with his daughters. Donald found joy in work, often being called a "workaholic". Most of all, Donald loved spending time outside with his daughters. He will be remembered as a very caring father and friend.

Donald is survived by his daughters, Nicole (Trevor) Smith and Casey Burkhart; their mother, Theresa Burkhart; his siblings, Lois (Elmer) Lashmit, Lawrence (Cindy) Burkhart and Gerald Burkhart; many nieces and nephews; and his friend, Sophie, the beagle.

Donald is preceded in death by a sister, Shirley (John) Lashmit; a brother, Kenneth Burkhart; and his parents, Jonas and Ruth Burkhart.

There will be a visitation, Saturday, November 21st, at Stone Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will immediately follow, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dave Behling officiating.

The Burkhart family would like to suggest memorial donations to Hilltop Manor in Roscommon or the Friendship Centers of Emmet County.
