Dorothy Mercier

Dorothy L. Mercier, 90, of Cheboygan, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017 at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey.

Dorothy was born June 3, 1926 in Appleton, Wisconsin, the daughter of William and Helen (Vandevoort) Kappell.  On October 16, 1948 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cheboygan, she married Raymond Mercier.  She was employed for many years at the A&P Store in Cheboygan, and also did day care.  She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards, and taking trips to the casino.

Surviving are her four children, Gerald (Teri) Mercier of Canada, Mary Lou Weed of Arizona, Patricia (Brad) Crist), and Katherine (Robert) Morrow, both of Cheboygan, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, a sister in law, Teresa Proctor, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond in 2005, and a sister, Mildred Trost.

The funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at noon, with her family greeting friends beginning at 11:00am, at St. Mary/St. Charles Catholic Church in Cheboygan.  Rev. Duane Wachowiak will officiate, burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Straits.
