Douglas R. Verville

Douglas R. Verville, age 61, of Petoskey and formerly of Cheboygan passed away June 24, 2017 at his home. He was born September 19, 1955 in Detroit, the son of Paul and Rita (Fresenius) Verville and the family moved to Cheboygan in the mid 60’s.

Doug was a farmer and had been a caretaker for his parents for many years. He attended the American Truck Driving School and enjoyed woodworking, cooking and baking, bonfires and was known as the world’s best barbecuer. He was a wonderful grandfather and uncle.

Survivors include the love of his life, Patricia Thompson of Petoskey and her children, Chad (Michele) Thompson of WY, Jodi (Todd) Mundy of Alanson and Amy (Jack Moir) Thompson of Vanderbilt, ten siblings, Paul Verville of Las Vegas, Sandra (Douglas) Hill of Petoskey, Dennis (Tammy) Verville of Cheboygan, Kimberly (Jack) Berden of Port Charlotte, FL, Joseph (Sylvia) Verville of Cheboygan, Mary (Andy) Jewell of Cheboygan, George “Jr” (Dawn) Pavwoski of Cheboygan, Dale (Linda) Pavwoski of Buckley, Danny (Sharon) Pavwoski of Cheboygan and David (Candi) Pavwoski of Onaway and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, George Pavwoski and a brother, Jim Pavwoski.

A memorial service will take place at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home on Thursday, June 29 at Noon with the family greeting friends one hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
