Welcome to the memorial page for

Earl F. Rose

February 17, 1940 ~ January 18, 2017 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Our dad, Earl Rose, passed away peacefully at his home on Douglas Lake on January 18, 2017 at the age of 76 following a lengthy illness.

Dad was a lifelong resident of the Pellston area. He was born on February 17, 1940, the son of Leroy and Isabella (Gillett) Rose and was one of 11 children. Everyone you talk to in Pellston has a “story” about dad in his younger years. It seems that he’s been a character all of his life.

Dad was incredibly skilled carpenter and was known throughout the area for his work. It was always, and will continue to be, a great compliment to hear someone brag on his abilities. He loved to spend time in his woodshop perfecting another piece and this is something he truly missed being able to do.

In 1982, dad married Jackie Coatta and it was at that time that he made his home on Douglas Lake. Jackie preceded dad in death in 2002. Dad was also preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Robert, Melvin and Weldon, sisters, Doris,  Marge, Betty and Sally and his granddaughter, Casey.

Dad leaves behind his daughter, Lisa, (his buddy, Brad) Willey, his son, Lee, his loving companion, Lori Mathes, sister, Elaine (Ken) Garver,  brothers, Floyd (Anne) Rose and Ron Rose, grandchildren, Michael, Chad, Dusten and Misty, along with their spouses, seven great grandchildren, step children, Steve and Linda and their families as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

We will all miss him very much but we find comfort knowing that he is no longer in pain and he’s probably building something really amazing in that woodshop in the sky.

Dad has asked that there not be a memorial service. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Hospice of the Straits. Arrangements are being handled by the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home.
