Esther Jean (Nestell) Douglas

Esther J. Douglas, age 82 of Cheboygan passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Tendercare in Cheboygan. She was born March 24, 1935 in Indian River, the daughter of Percy and Leola (Thomas) Nestell. On June 21, 1952 in Cheboygan, Esther married Raymond Douglas who preceded her in death in March of 2016.

Esther and Ray lived in Pontiac while Ray was working for General Motors and moved back to Cheboygan in 1982 upon Ray’s retirement. She enjoyed going to the Senior Center and attending T.O.P.S., crafting, coloring and making doll clothes and furniture.

Survivors include her three children, Lynda (Joseph “Al” Hawkins) Hodges of Cheboygan, Kevin (Carol) Douglas of Otter Lake and Diann Douglas of Cheboygan, brother, Jackie Nestell, seven grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Pama Douglas, grandson, Lennon Kasky, one brother and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home on Saturday, February 24 at 1:00 pm with the family greeting friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions in Esther's name may be directed to the Cheboygan County Humane Society.
