George H. Earhart

George H. Earhart, age 76, of Cheboygan passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at The Brook.

He was born January 17, 1940 in Cheboygan, the son of George B. and Lela (Cayewood) Earhart. On December 12, 1988 in Las Vegas, George married Patsy J. Bair who survives.

George graduated from Cheboygan High School in 1958. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1963. In 1968 he went to work for United Airlines in Detroit as a Ramp Pilot before transferring to Denver, CO. He retired in 2001 after 33 years of service.

George was a member of the Cheboygan Eagles, the Cheboygan Moose Lodge, the N.R.A. and the American Legion. He was always very active and enjoyed hunting, golfing, playing pool, boating and throwing horseshoes with the Cheboygan Men’s Horseshoe League where he had served as President for three years.  George enjoyed spending time with friends and family especially with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Patsy, four sons, George (Nancy), Wayne (Sharon), Erik and Dale (Silvia), three step children, John (Theresa) Slavik, Lisa Dirkes and Kim (Vince) Coleman, his siblings, Mary Thompson, Dale (Susan) Earhart, Shirley (Bob) Crist, Carl Earhart, Allen (Barbara) Earhart and Terry Earhart,  17 grandchildren, Ryan, Lauren, Susan, Brendan, George, Allen, Lisa, Samantha, Stephen, Wayne, Jr., Emilee, Julia, Ryan, Ethan, Jarred, Jacob and Joshua and two great grandchildren, Tyler and Blake. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step son, Michael Slavik and two sisters, Virginia Powers and Beverly Gale.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Faith Baptist Church with the family greeting friends beginning at 10:00 AM. The Reverend Jim Currie will officiate. A luncheon at the Cheboygan Eagles will immediately follow the service. Memorial contributions in George’s name may be directed to Straits Area Services.

Arrangements are being handled by the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home.
