Gerald "Jerry" James Becker

Gerald "Jerry" Becker, 77 of Petoskey, died May 24, 2016 at his home.

Jerry was born on October 28, 1938, the son of Herman and Helen Becker. He grew up in Petoskey and attended Petoskey public schools.

On July 11, 1959, he married Barbara Ann Burgess in Lansing. They made their home in Lansing until moving back to Petoskey in 1972. Barbara Ann preceded Gerald in death on Oct. 30, 2009.

Jerry loved gardening and traveling. Cars were a passion for Jerry. He was a member of the Car Club in Indian River and spent many days building hot rods. He was often traveling to car shows around the country.

Jerry was well loved within the community and touched a lot of people's hearts. He will be sorely missed.

Jerry is survived by his two children, James (Nancy) Becker of Petoskey, and Julie Ann (Toby) Rose of Petoskey; grandchildren, Scott Rose, Stacy (Cory) Bryhan, Jennifer (Lor) Powers and Kayla Rose; and a great grandchild, Hunter Bryhan.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; and his sister, Nina Rozma.

There will be a gathering at Jerry's home (5220 Atkins Road, Petoskey, MI. 49770) on May 27 from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Friends and family are welcome to come and share memories.

Donations may be made to Hospice of Little Traverse Bay in memory of Jerry.
