James R. Mousseau

James R. Mousseau, age 85 of Cheboygan passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at McLaren Hospital in Petoskey. He was born November 10, 1930, the son of Albert and Jonelle (Hobgood) Mousseau. On November 29, 1958 at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Livonia, Jim married Carolyn Wassell.

In 1948, Jim enlisted in the United States Army. He served in Japan during the Korean War and was awarded three Bronze Stars. He was honorably discharged in 1952. After his discharge from the service, he went to work for General Motors working at the Willow Run Plant. He retired as a supervisor in 1990 after 38 years of service. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and working in his yard.

Survivors include his wife Carolyn of Cheboygan, six children, Steve of Mancelona, Ron of Cheboygan, Jackie Russom of Charlevoix, John (Susanne) of Alba, Pat (Robin) of Alanson and Joey of Pinckney, one sister, Sharon Mauno of Westland and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Paul.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home. Cremation will follow and Jim’s ashes will be buried at St. Francis Cemetery in Alverno during a graveside committal service with full military honors to held on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 1:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Cheboygan County Humane Society.
