Jean Margie (Pavey) Herman

Jean Margie Herman, 95

Jean M. Herman passed from this life peacefully in the evening hours of Thursday, July 13, 2017 at her home in Little Traverse Township surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born Jean Margie Pavey in Royal Oak on November 24, 1921 to Leon L. and Mary G. (Woodworth) Pavey.  She grew up in Royal Oak and was a graduate of Royal Oak High School. 

She married Don W. Herman on April 24, 1943.  As a couple they shared 74 wonderful years together raising two daughters.  In all things Jean put the needs of others before her own.  The love she felt for her husband and daughters was the cornerstone on which Jean built her family; a family that eventually also included 4 granddaughters, 17 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.  Her family will forever cherish the memories of a wife, mother and grandmother that was faithful, compassionate and loving, and who provided her children and grandchildren with the best roll model possible.  She was deeply loved and will be forever missed.  

Jean's surviving family include her husband Don, her daughter Mary Joanne Lytle, granddaughters Nina Speranza, Dawn Watson, Lisa Patrico and Christy Ockerman.  Also as mentioned above, Jean is survived by 17 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.  She was sadly preceded in death by her daughter Carol Jean Gean on August 5, 2016. 

Her family plan to remember and honor her life privately with a graveside service at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan, the service will be led by Jerry Tallman.  Those wishing to remember Jean with a charitable contribution are asked to consider Cheboygan Church of Christ.
