Jeanette J. Keiser, 73, of Carp Lake, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at Mackinac Straits Health System in St. Ignace. Jean was being cared for in the facility by the hospice program.
Jean was born November 22, 1944 in Cheboygan, the daughter of Archie and Joan (Dorrance) Cosens. She grew up in Mackinaw City, and was a graduate of Mackinaw City High School. She attended Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, and later graduated from Ferris State University in Big Rapids. She worked as a librarian in Midland and later Bay County Public Library for many years, retiring in 1996. After moving to Carp Lake, Jean worked for the Cheboygan Public Library. She later volunteered at the libraries in St. Ignace and Mackinaw City. Jean was a member of the Carp Lake Women’s Association, and the Bliss Missionary Church, serving as secretary. She volunteered at the Mackinaw City Church of the Straits Food Pantry. She also served as a volunteer for many years at the Mackinaw Bridge walk.
Surviving are a brother, Brent Cosens of Fort Walton, Florida. She is also survived by many other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gary, a daughter Pam, and a brother, Jakie.
A graveside committal service will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Mackinaw City at a later date.
Memorials may be made to a no kill animal shelter or the Mackinaw City Library.
