John J. "JJ" Aldrich

John J. “JJ” Aldrich, age 78 of Alanson passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Hospice House in Cheboygan. He was born July 25, 1939 in Cheboygan, the son of Jonathan and Evelyn (Beach) Aldrich.

JJ was drafted into the U.S. Army in May of 1963 during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in May of 1965. He worked in the grocery business all his life and had worked at Lickart’s Highway Market, A&P, Krogers, Hamady’s and Carters from which he retired in the mid 1990’s. In retirement JJ enjoyed golfing, traveling south and day trips to numerous locations throughout northern lower Michigan and the upper peninsula. He loved to talk and was a very friendly and kind man.

JJ will be greatly missed by his “little sister”, Ardella Aldrich, two cousins, Carva Beach and Richard Church, his church family, his neighbors at Conway Commons and his co-workers from past jobs. We take comfort that he has been welcomed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

A memorial service will take place at Northern Michigan Baptist Bible Church (M-68 and McMichael Rd., Alanson) on Sunday, December 10 at 1:30 PM with Pastor Rusty Chatfield officiating.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Northern Michigan Baptist Bible Church.  Arrangements are being handled by the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home.
