John, best known in the Petoskey area as “Harry” was a really good guy!
To all who knew him; as my brother, our uncle, brother in law, friend and as an acquaintance “yeah, I talked with him a couple of times over a beer” he was genuine, considerate, generous and simply, kind. I could have written this character description about John when he was 10, 18, 35 whatever age because he was always that way. I do it now, as a memorial. Many knew Harry from his many years at the helm of Harrington Marina and more recently, Bear Cove Marine on Walloon Lake. Many knew him from his years as a Petoskey Bowling Association member, officer and available for any help, anywhere he could. That was Harry.
I never, ever heard him ask for or regret not getting any credit or acknowledgement for anything he did and he did a lot of good for people he knew.
Well, let’s give Harry his just do as we remember a really nice and kind guy.
He is survived by his brother, Michael and sister, Linda as well as nephew and niece, Michael John and Meaghan Katharine and their children. A family memorial is planned for the this summer. Funeral arrangements have been through Stone Funeral Home
