John Harvey Hill, 72 of Alanson, died April 8, 2018 in Petoskey.
John was born on November 29, 1945 in Ilkeston, England, the son of the late Stanley and Ellen (Heap) Hill. At the age of 5 his family moved to Toronto, Canada before immigrating to the United States and settling in Alanson, MI. He graduated from Alanson High School with the Class of 1965.
On June 29, 1989, John married the love of his life, the former Judy Swadling and the two made their home in Alanson. John went to work for Boyne Highlands in Maintenance and as a Ski Lift Operator, retiring after 25 years of dedicated service in 2014.
John enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, watching Tigers Baseball and Red Wing Hockey. He loved his animals and spending time with his family, especially his grandbabies.
John is survived by is wife of 28 years, Judy; 4 children, Chris (Judy) Hill of Alanson, Lynette (Jesse) Keller of Alanson, Danielle Hill of Alanson, and Diana (Adam Taylor) Hill of Alanson; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating John’s life will be held at the Stone Funeral Home on Friday, April 13th at 11am with the Rev. David Behling officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10am until the time of service. John will be laid to rest at a later date at the Alanson-Littlefield Township Cemetery.
