John F. "Jack" Seaman

John F. “Jack” Seaman, age 79, of Cheboygan passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at McLaren Hospital in Petoskey. He was born July 20, 1938 in Cheboygan, the son of Vernon and Margaret (Martin) Seaman. On January 23, 1960, Jack married Julie Peets who survives.

Jack joined the U.S. Army when he was 18 and served in Korea from 1956 – 1958. He then transferred to the Army Reserves and was honorably discharged in October of 1962.

Jack worked as a mechanic at Procter & Gamble and retired after 25 years of service. He loved the water and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father, brother and son. He was a great mechanic and helped many friends with their cars. He was also a great carpenter having built two homes and helping his son build his home.

Besides his wife Julie, Jack is survived by his daughter, Jeanne Seaman and his grandson Justin Russ, both of Traverse City, and two sisters-in-law, Helen Bergstrom of Cheboygan and Bernice (Ray) LaHaie of Spring, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, his only son Vern, his brother, Bill and two sisters, Mary Jane Carney and Veronica “Inky” Freeman.

A graveside memorial service will be announced in the spring.  Arrangements are being handled by the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home.
