Keith Warren Henning

August 3, 1947 ~ November 26, 2015 (age 68) 68 Years Old

Keith Warren Henning, ( known as “Coach Henning” to cross-country runners)  of Harbor Springs passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2015 at age 68 years, surrounded by family in Charlevoix after a valiant 7 year battle with cancer. Keith was born on August 3, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Earl Warren Henning and Irene (Hardy) Henning of Alanson. He was dedicated husband and is survived by wife of 45 years, Mildred (Lemieur) Henning; children Nicole Biggerstaff ( husband Jeremy ) of Charlevoix  Jacques Henning, Renee Forman ( husband David), Blaise Henning  (wife Emily) all of Harbor Springs; beloved grandchildren, Maclean & Leland Henning , Mady Biggerstaff and Francesca Forman; siblings Claudia Kadlitz of Shelby Township , Pamela Cushman of Petoskey, Deborah Lyon of Petoskey, Damien Henning of Alanson, Felicia VanZelfden of Holland,  Jeffrey Henning of Alanson and Laura Armstrong of Northville all in Michigan; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Keith was an Honorably Discharged Vietnam Veteran of 173rd Airborne Division of Paratroopers, “The Herd”…. Legends in the Military (1966-1968). Keith carried that courage and “push-it-to-your-limit” attitude into every aspect of his life. Keith attended Detroit’s St. David’s Grade School and graduated from Osborn High, holding Number One Runner position for 3years in One Mile Distance Run and was known as “The Rabbit “.  A Licensed Builder/Carpenter/ Business owner in Northern Michigan, Keith had a philosophy of using that experience and all education as a basis for building a strong foundation in anything. Military taught him to serve with honor; prep school - leadership skills; principles and methodologies of prominent coaches along with his running experience – dedication/ discipline.

Keith coached/mentored/influenced his family, young runners and Veterans as his Legendary Legacy.

A memorial service will be held at Camp Petosega, 11000 Petosega Road, Alanson, MI 49706, on December 5th , 2015 at 1:00pm.

Arrangements are in the care of the Stone Funeral Home of Petoskey.
