Mary Josephine (Deming) Towne

Mary Towne passed away Nov. 27, 2016, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility.
 

She was born on Aug. 18, 1920. The daughter of Silas and Maude (Webster) Deming. On July 3, 1937, she married Albert Towne.
 

She worked at Essex for 19 years and after retiring was very instrumental in the organization of the Boyne City Senior Center. She was a member of the VFW auxiliary and the Rebekah Lodge.

Mary loved listening to the Detroit Tigers, working in her rose garden, but most of all she loved going to Bingo, especially with her sister Florence.
Mary loved baking cakes and made all her children and grandchildren's wedding cakes.
 

She is survived by 2 sons Gene (Kathy) and Bob (Pat); and daughter-in-law Roberta.
Grandchildren: Dale (Jeff), Russell (Debbie), Jerri (John) Fay, Rob (Mary), Jill (Dusty) Patton, and great-grandchildren, Joel (Mandi), Jessika, Justine, Jacob, Lauryn, Aidan, Braden, Adonae, and Jack. Step-grandchildren Shelley (Tom) Reid, and Matt (Heather) Moore, and several great-grandchildren. Brother Cal (Helen) Deming, sisters Florence
Kominski, and Barbara (Pete) Kerr.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Albert Jr., daughter -in-law Linda Towne, and brothers Ralph, Ronald, and Bud Deming, sisters Edith Deming, Cora Brooks, Joanne Sloop. Step-brothers Jay and James Towne, and sister-in-law Dorothy Jensen.
Funeral services; Wednesday, Nov.30, at 11:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Boyne City. Visitation at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grandvue or Boyne City Senior Center.
