Max Gilbert Boettger, Sr.

Max Gilbert Boettger, Sr., 81, of Alanson, died February 12, 2017 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.

Max was born in Ayre, Michigan, the son of William and Mildred (Cease) Boettger. Max was one of fourteen children in his family growing up. He attended school in Pellston and was a member of the 1953 graduating class.

On June 9, 1956, he married Mary Ulrich. Together, they started a family and had six children of their own.

Max was a Parker Motor Freight truck driver for over 30 years. He loved to farm and garden. He will be remembered as a dedicated father and hard worker.

Max is survived by his wife, Mary Boettger of Alanson; his children, William Boettger of Brutus, Stephen (Teresa) Boettger of Alanson, Leon (Ann Marie) Boettger of Boyne Falls and Max Jr. (Sandy) Boettger of Indian River; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and four siblings, Alice, Boyd, Gale and Avis.

Max is preceded in death by his daughter, Jacquelyn Daniels; son, Troy Crosby Boettger; and many brothers and sisters.

Friends and family wishing to honor Max's life with a charitable donation are asked to consider Brave Hearts Estate in Pellston or Vital Care Hospice.

The Boettger family is planning a private memorial service in the spring.
