Mildred "Millie" Fettig

Mildred S. “Millie” Fettig, 84 of Petoskey, died February 11, 2016.

Millie was born on May 11, 1931 in Lake Leelanau, Michigan, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Walter) Schaub.  Following high school she entered the Dominican Sisters of Grand Rapids and faithfully served the church and her Order until she received her Indult in 1978.  She went to work as a teacher at St. Francis School in Petoskey and continued to work there until she retired.

On June 20, 1983, Millie married James J. Fettig and together they made their home in Petoskey.  James preceded Mildred in death on October 6, 1992.

Millie was a very active member of the St. Francis Xavier Parrish in Petoskey and St. Francis School.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by 5 siblings, Louis Simon, Catherine Kryger, Emma Popp, Florence Westveld, and Mary Wretschko; and by numerous nieces and nephews. 

Millie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Fettig; and 7 siblings, Ted Schaub, Anne Durecki, Rose Kerr, Agnes Kelly, Albert Schaub, Joseph Schaub, and James Schaub.

A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 16th at 10:30am at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Petoskey.  The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30am until the time of service. 

Those wishing to honor Millie’s memory are asked to make a donation to St. Francis School of Petoskey.
