Neiland "Neil" W. Crawford

Neiland "Neil" W. Crawford, age 85, of Mullett Township passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Hiland Cottage in Petoskey. He was born February 9, 1932 in Afton, the son of Ervin and Evelyn (Ormsbee) Crawford. On September 10, 1960 in Cheboygan, Neil married Judy Sawyer who survives.

Neil enlisted in the United States Navy in 1952 during the Korean War and served on the heavy cruiser, U.S.S. Albany. He was honorably discharged in 1960. He had worked as a logger and a handyman in and around the Mullett Lake area for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, wood carving and going to the casino and was a lifetime member of both the NRA and the DAV.

Besides his wife Judy, Neil is survived by his three children, Ervin (Janice) of Mullett Township, John W. (Denise) of Cheboygan and Laurie (fiance' Terry Blaskowski) Kolka of Cheboygan, two sisters, Virginia Kirchoff of Mullett Township and Betty (Robert) Johnston of Cheboygan, one brother, James (Henrietta) Crawford of MO, six grandchildren, Mary, Jamie, Joseph, Michael, Alicia and Devin and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Eldaline Kolanchick, his brother, Richard Crawford and his step-father, Garnet Crawford.

The funeral service will be held at the Lintz Funeral Home on Monday, May 15, 2017 at 1:00 PM  with the family greeting friends beginning at 11:00 AM. Apostle Buddy Ormsbee will officiate and burial will take place at Mullett-Burt Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hiland Cottage.
