After 101 years, Olive Catherine (Wing) Hoffman is celebrating eternal life with her Lord and Savior. She left, those who adored her peacefully, on Monday, May 23rd. She was the daughter of Walter and Mary Wing of Cheboygan, Michigan and was the second of 13 children. In 1936 Olive married Eugene J. Hoffman of Petoskey where they raised 5 children. Their children are Ruth Ann (Sherman) Hecksel of Coopersville, Betty J. (Nathan) Brock of Traverse City, John E. (Judy) Hoffman and Richard M. (Susan) Hoffman both of Petoskey and Catherine A. (Keith) Edick of Gladwin. Grandchildren are: granddaughter Kelly and grandsons Michael, Mark, Scott, Nick, David, Ryan, Shaun, and Clark. Olive has 15 great grandchildren. Olive was a member of the St. Francis Altar Society, a charter member of the Daughter’s of Isabella, a volunteer at Brother Dan’s Food Pantry and at Little Traverse Hospital Auxiliary for many years. Olive was a homemaker who loved to cook and bake for her family and others. She was always giving breads, jams, and her homemade pickles away until she was in her 90’s. Olive’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were most important in her life. She enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, walking, and reading. Olive spent her winters in Port Richey, Florida.

Her warm, giving spirit and infectious smile contributed to her kind, loving, and caring attitude toward others. She had a deep love for her faith and trusted God to guide her through life. She was a precious gift to her family and all those who knew her.
