Welcome to the memorial page for

Pastor Bob Moody

September 23, 1956 ~ February 3, 2016 (age 59) 59 Years Old

Pastor Robert Moody, affectionately known as “P.B.,” 59, of Indian River received his crown of righteousness and heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” on February 3, 2016.

He was born at England Air Force Base in Alexandria, Louisiana on September 23, 1956 to Melvin and Arlene Moody. He spent his childhood in Flint and Millington, Michigan.

On June 14, 1980, he married Shirley Quick in Otisville, Michigan. They were partners in life and ministry for thirty-five years. After serving churches in Michigan’s thumb and upper peninsula, P.B. became the senior pastor of Joy Fellowship Assembly of God in 1988. He continued to plant and pastor other churches in the area, simultaneously serving his Indian River flock.  Any town or congregation that needed a pastor could count on P.B. to fill their pulpit.

P.B. strove to be a friend to everyone, especially those in need. He worked tirelessly to live out a favorite scripture from the Gospel of Matthew: “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” He advocated for the poor, the homeless, the widow, the orphan, and those with special needs.

He loved shooting and hunting and the great outdoors. He was an architectural designer and builder who wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty. He was a writer and author of devotionals. He was a patriot who loved his country. One of the places he loved to spend time was Lost Valley Bible Camp, where he could teach kids to shoot straight and walk straight with God. He founded and directed Circle of Friends Camp, where people of all ages with special needs were welcome. He always made room in his circle for one more friend. He used all of his gifts to glorify his Father, and there was nothing on earth that truly mattered to him except his relationship with Jesus and people.

P.B. is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Katie (Joel) Noeske of Gaylord, MI, Tabitha (Greg) Glazier of Wolverine, MI, David Moody of Indian River, MI, Hannah (Tyler) Branigan, Rebekah Moody, and Sandy Moody, all of Gaylord, MI; his grandchildren Kaitlyn and Kayla Shantz, Caedmon and Ansel Noeske, Abraham, Autumn, Brandon, Isaac, Jacob, Devin, and Zechariah Glazier, Charley and Dawson Moody, Birdie Branigan; his mother, Arlene Moody of Millington, MI; his siblings Wayne (Kim) Moody of Interlochen, MI, and Linda (Tom) Giddings of Millington, MI. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Moody; sister, Carol Spencer; granddaughter, Morgan Glazier; and niece Monika Shantz, whom he considered a daughter.

P.B. is now free of the pain and suffering that plagued his physical body. He has fulfilled his favorite scripture: “I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow to attain to the resurrection of the dead.” Philippians 3:10
