Paul Douglas McDonald

September 7, 1943 ~ April 12, 2017 (age 73) 73 Years Old

Paul Douglas McDonald passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at his home in Boyne Falls, MI at the age of 73.  He was born on September 7, 1943 in St. Claire Shores, MI and was the son of Lloyd and Audie (Norrod) McDonald who both preceded him in death. 

Doug married the love of his life, Jean on June 25, 1966 after graduating from Albion College with a Bachelors of Art in Finance.  He had a lengthy career in commercial lending with a variety of banking institutions including Manufacturers Bank and Michigan National. Following retirement, Doug enjoyed volunteering with Meals on Wheels, working at the CUMC value shop, and selling peanuts for Detroit Tigers games.  Doug was an active, long time member of Central United Methodist Church (CUMC) in Detroit. He is most known for his humorous stories and love for his family. 

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean McDonald of Boyne Falls, his two children: Thomas McDonald and wife Amy of Lake Tapawingo, MO; Sarah McDonald Albus and husband Mark of Kensington, MD.  Granddaughters: Lillian McDonald, Molly McDonald,  Katherine Albus, Grace Albus, Hannah Albus, and Libby Albus. Siblings Beverly Nelson of Umatilla, FL, and Jack McDonald of Traverse City, MI, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers - Lloyd McDonald Jr. and Bill McDonald. 

The Memorial Service will be held at Central United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 27, 2017.. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Open Door Sports Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing quality sports programming for children with special needs.  Open Door Sports, Inc., 1348 Florida Ave, NW  Washington, DC 20009.
