Paul Theriault Obituary

Paul J. Theriault, 92, died peacefully at Bay Bluffs on July 25, 2019.

Paul was born October 2, 1926 in Marquette, Michigan to Albert and Louise Theriault. The family moved to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan when Paul was 4 years old. He graduated from Sault High School in 1944.

He promptly joined the Navy to join his two older brothers during World War II. He was stationed state side in San Diego, California. After leaving the Navy, he married Ruth Gould and had four children and resided in Sault Ste. Marie. He was employed as a civilian traffic safety specialist at Kincheloe Air Force Base for approximately 18 years.

He relocated to Lansing, Michigan in the late 1960s and was the Property Facilities Manager for Michigan National Bank until the early 1980s. During this time, he married Irma Lamb and had two step-children. Following Irma's death in 1990, Paul moved to Petoskey, Michigan where his son and daughter lived. He began another career as a finish carpenter and worked for many contractors in the Petoskey area until his retirement in 2005.

On July 1, 1995, Paul married Donna (Day), and she survives him. He was step-father to Donna's children, Greg Andrick (Margaret) and Scott Andrick.

His greatest enjoyment was boating, beginning when he was 14 and built a sailboat. His love of boating came from his uncle, Andrew Anderson, who was a commercial fisherman in Marquette. Paul spent much of the summers of his youth on Uncle Andrew's boat. Paul owned a boat most of his life and traveled most of the Great Lakes. He was also an avid fisherman and caught many lake trout and salmon in the Great Lakes.

Paul is survived by his wife, Donna, his children, Cheryl (Jim) Stovall, Paul A. (Debbie), Dawn Shureb and Lori (Larry) Swailes. Also surviving are his step-children, Dawn (Mike) Womboldt, Chuck Lamb, Greg (Margaret) Andrick, and sister-in-law, Ruth Theriault. He leaves eight grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and three nieces and a nephew.

Predeceasing Paul were his parents, his former wife, Ruth, his brother, Al (Ruth), his brother Jack and wife, Doreen, son-in-law, Vic Shureb, step-son, Scott Andrick, his aunts and uncles, and many cousins.
