Richard Helberg, 84 of Alanson, MI, passed away on February 8, 2018 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey.

Richard was born on February 28, 1933 in Bowling Green, OH, the son of George and Gertrude Helberg. He grew up in Bowling Green and attended Bowling Green Public Schools. Richard worked on his family's farm in Bowling Green for many years and then as a truck driver. On December 24, 1973, he married Joyce Wolf in Toledo, OH. Richard was a simple, loving, man who loved his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed trucking and fishing.

Richard is survived by his children Richard Lee (Beth) Helberg, Sue Helberg, Don (Susan) Helberg, Joyce (Daniel) Midyett, Richard Alfred Helberg, Robert Royston, Terry (Linda) Royston, Kenneth (Wendy) Royston, and Brian (Christina) Royston, grandchildren Branden (Collette) Royston, Ashley Royston, Jennifer (Heath) Norvell, Brianna Royston, Gabrielle Royston, Kristyna (Andrew) Royston, Brook (Rueben) Sova, Preston (Kiaya) Robinson, Brian Royston Jr., Ember Simar, Lauren Noon, Brandy (Jimmy) Kitson, Jesse Springstead, Crystal Royston, Jeremy Helberg, Jason Helberg, CJ Helberg, Donnie Helberg, Katie Helberg, Sierra (Scott) Drost, Cody Hall, and Tiffany (James) Crampton, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and two siblings, Eleanor Johnston and Arleen Labdell. He is preceded in death by his wife Joyce Helberg, his elementary sweetheart Alma, a son Mark Springstead, and siblings Ethel Helberg, Georgia Maime Helberg, Ruby Eleven Helberg, Mary Lenore Helberg, Harold Leroy Helberg, Yoland Rose Helberg, Zelma Irene Helberg, and George Russell Helberg.
