Robert K. “Bob” Teuthorn, age 79 of Topinabee passed away Monday, September 13, 2010 at the Hospice House. He was born April 3, 1931 in Glen Ellyn, IL to Kurt and Helen (Manson) Teuthorn. On October 25, 1952 at the Cross in the Woods Catholic Church in Indian River, Bob married Edith Fenner who preceded him in death on June 17, 2010. Bob served with the U.S. Coast Guard from 1950-1953. He served aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw from ’52-’53 and received a Medal of Honor for saving a young boy from drowning in the Cheboygan River. After his Coast Guard service, Bob worked as a union Lithographic Artist in Chicago for many years retiring in 1991 after 37 years of service. He was a member of Union Local M458 and was an Assistant Boy Scout Master for many years in the Chicago area. He also enjoyed painting, hunting and fishing. Survivors include his children, Theresa Henry of Indian River, Marie (Alfred) Carter of Peoria, AZ, William (Noreen) Teuthorn of Chicago, IL, John (Rocio) Teuthorn of Chicago, IL, James (Ann) Teuthorn of Lindenhurst, IL, Annette (Michael Marks) Biskupski of Topinabee, Thomas (Gwen Gasco) Teuthorn of Harbor Springs, Joseph (Tunde) Teuthorn of LaGrange Park, IL, Linda Harper of Monroe, NC, Barbara (Leonard) Morgan of Indian River, one brother, James Teuthorn of CA, one sister, Margaret Swarm of N.Y., twenty seven grandchildren and thirty two great grandchildren. Besides his wife Edith, Bob was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Samantha Teuthorn. The Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 2:00 pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Burt Lake with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Reverend Francis Partridge will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob’s name may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be made at www.stonefuneralhomeinc.com.
