Robert Wesley Stolt

July 13, 1921 ~ March 19, 2017 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Robert Wesley Stolt passed away peacefully in the afternoon of March 19, 2017.  He was born July 13, 1921 in North Bay Township to Otto and Laura Stolt. During World War II, he served with the 10th Armored Division in Europe as a Staff Sergeant. At the end of the war he was assigned to security duty at Nuremberg, Germany. Upon his return home he worked for Bill Lamser's Garage in Petoskey, Michigan as an auto mechanic. On June 30, 1949 he married Marie Candace Koteskey of Bay Township. Soon after he took a job at the Emmet County Road Commission where he worked for 31 years until retiring as the shop superintendent in 1983.They lived on a farm on Camp Daggett Road where they raised four children.  For many years he was Bay Township Treasurer. He liked working in his garden, woodworking, bee keeping, making maple syrup and playing cribbage. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife Marie, children: Linda of Los Angeles, CA,  Don (Julie) of Belleville, MI, Carol Higley (Tim) of Manhattan, KS, Dale (Martha) of Boyne City, MI., grandchildren: Adam Stolt, Amanda Houston, Carrie Roberts, Anne Higley, Katelyn and Parker Stolt, seven great-grand children and two sisters: Florence Stolt and Arlene Swan. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday March 21st at 3 PM at Stackus Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Dyer Cemetery on Camp Daggett Road in Bay Township at a later date.
