Sarah "Sally" Francis (Rapp) Shumway

Born April 25, 1928 in Lansing, Michigan to Matthew & Blanche Rapp and died November 13, 2015 at the age of 87 in Petoskey, Michigan, of natural causes.

Sally graduated from J. W. Sexton High School in Lansing, Michigan, was a budget analyst with a the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for over 30 years and a life long member of P.E.O. Sisterhood: Philanthropic Educational Organization dedicated to helping women pursue higher education. Sally was a devoted step mother and step grandmother. Sally was a kind, warm, loving woman, well read, intelligent, funny, an accomplished knitter, and a very good friend. She will be greatly missed by her family.

Sally lived in Lansing, Michigan her entire life until she married her childhood sweetheart, Frank A. Shumway, Sr. on June 22, 1996 in Harbor Springs, Michigan. They lived in Harbor Springs Michigan, traveled together for several years and wintered in Palm Beach Shores, Florida.

Sally is survived by her step-sons, G. Charles Shumway, II of Falmouth, Maine, James M. Shumway and his wife Janet, of Grand Rapids Michigan, and Frank A. Shumway, Jr., of Harbor Springs, Michigan. Also surviving are her step-grandchildren, Lauren Shumway Porter and her husband, Sean, Elizabeth Ruth Shumway, and Brendan Charles Shumway, along with her great grandchildren, Alysa Marie Porter, Zachary James Porter and Catherine Elizabeth Porter.

She was predeceased by her husband, Frank A. Shumway, Sr., and her sister and brother-in-law Jerry & Betty Rogers and her parents.

Sally is also survived by her nieces, Suzanne M. Rogers, Christine L. Widrig, and Amy Rogers.
