Scotty Mathers, Jr.

Scotty Mathers, Jr., age 81 of Boyne Falls passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at his home.

Scotty was born on May 25, 1936 in Arbroath, Scotland the son of Norman Campbell Mathers, Sr. and Georgina Boath.  On December 26, 1959 in Detroit, MI he married Barbara Ann Kohler.  Scotty proudly served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1961. He enjoyed reading, fishing, working at the farmers market and socializing with his friends.

He was very involved in the community.  Scotty was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as a elder; member of the UAW and served as a Trustee; Past President of the Charlevoix County Humane Society and also served on the Hudson Township zoning commission.

Scotty is survived by his wife Barbara; children Cheryl (Mary) Horan-Mathers and Amber (Duane) Dash; grandchildren Heather, Lindsay (Rob) and Duane Jr.; great-grandchildren Ashton, Gavin, Addison and Ethan, Rylee and Steven; one cousin Uncle Russ Gibb and sister-in-law Gail (John) Williams.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, July 7, 2017 at the Boyne City First Presbyterian Church.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be directed to the Boyne City First Presbyterian Church.
