Stanley Spencer Chatfield II, 85 of Saint Ignace passed away on August 3, 2017 at his home.
Stanley was born on November 23, 1931 in Denver, CO, the son of Stanley S. Chatfield and Ardell Rawlings. He grew up in the Detroit area and after high school attended seminary college in Dearborn, MI. On November 20, 1953, he married Lorene Bennett in Angola, IN. The couple made their home in the Detroit area where they raised their family. In 1987 Stanley and Lorene moved to Pellston. Lorene preceded him in death on December 29, 2013. On August 9, 2015 he married the former Vernice Faleris in St. Ignace where the couple made their home.
Stanley enjoyed reading, bird watching, playing golf, and playing board and card games. He held many jobs over his lifetime including insurance salesman, selling adding machines, typewriters, and calculators, plumbing and heating associate, as well as an Associate Pastor at the Faith Baptist Church in Dearborn Heights and then an Associate Pastor at the Northern Michigan Baptist Bible Church. Stanley also sold Christian books for over forty years to different book racks in Algonac, MI. He was a faithful member of the Northern Michigan Baptist Bible Church.
Stanley is survived by his wife Vernice, children Patricia (John) Christensen of Dyer, IN, Robin (Bill) Biscorner of Memphis, MI, Stanley S. III "Rusty" (Betty) Chatfield of Levering, MI, nineteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, step-children Melinda (Linn) Merindorf of Mason, MI, Trevor (Laura) Laws of Carlsbad, CA, Bibiana (Nathan) Krall of Springfield, Georgia, Valentina (David) Anderson of Oakwood Hills, IL, Katrina (Eric) Motcheck of Mason, MI, Elsa (Sean) Heenan of Dansville, MI, and Keewaydin (Randi) Laws of Houston, TX, fifteen step-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his first wife Lorene, his parents, brother Ross Chatfield, grandchildren Johnathan and Jacob, son in law Juan and adopted son Ed Bennett.
Services for Stanley will be held at the Northern Michigan Baptist Bible Church on August 12, 2017, vistiation at 10:00am, funeral at 11:00am, the Reverend Stanley "Rusty" Chatfield will officiate.
