Walter Lee Charon

Walter Lee Charon, age 90, of Boyne City passed away Monday, July 3, 2017 at Boulder Park Terrace.  He was born at home in Lakeview, Michigan on June 20, 1927 to Joseph and Bertha (Turner) Charon, the youngest of 13 children.  All of his siblings are now deceased.

Walt joined the Army in 1950 and was honorably discharged in 1952.  He married Helen Mapes July 3, 1954 and they made their home in Boyne City.  She preceded him in death in 2003.

He worked alongside his older brother Carl as a baker and was employed by Michigan Tanning & Extract. He was employed by East Jordan Iron Works from 1969-1983 and then McLaughlin Industries until his retirement.  Walt’s favorite pastime was watching baseball especially his beloved Tigers.

Survivors include his nephew Carl (Sue) Charon, Jr along with many nieces & nephews.

A funeral service will take place 11:00 AM Friday, July 7th at the Stackus Funeral Home  in Boyne City with a visitation being held from 10:00 AM until the time of service.  Rev. David Behling will officiate and burial will take place at Maple Lawn Cemetery.
