William "Bill" C. Dietzel

William C. “Bill” Dietzel, age 90 of Indian River and formerly of Levering and Clinton Township, passed away Monday, August 22, 2016 at Hiland Cottage in Petoskey after a long and full life. He was born July 23, 1926 in Detroit, the son of Charles F. and Edith C. (Klute) Dietzel. He was the husband of the late Joanne E. (Culliton) Dietzel.

Bill served with the armored tank division of the US Army in the Pacific Theater during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. He went on to become an industrial contractor in the Detroit area and the former owner of Dietzel Construction. He enjoyed retirement in northern Michigan in the Levering and Indian River communities, loving life and living it to the fullest.

Survivors include his daughter, Cynthia J. (Michael) Petrack of Levering, his son, Thomas C. Dietzel of Indian River, one sister, Mary Ellen Hanson of Texas, his grandson, Michael J. Petrack, Jr. of Hamtramck and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 25, at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home. There will be additional visitation on Sunday, August 28 at the Kaul Funeral Home in Roseville, MI. The funeral service will take place on Monday, August 29 at 10:00 AM, also at the Kaul Funeral Home with interment to follow at Cadillac Memorial Gardens in Clinton Twp., MI. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bill’s name may be directed to the Village of Pellston, Veterans Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 468, Pellston, MI 49769.
