Stella Hersha Obituary

In the early hours of April 13, 2024, Stella Louise Hersha (Page) joined her recently departed husband, Jack J. Hersha, Sr., in the divine presence of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Born Stella Louise Page to Herbert Page Margaret E. Page (McCown) in Highland Park, Michigan on February 6, 1934. Stella lived her childhood and early adult life there in southeast Michigan. It was here that she met and married Jack J. Hersha, Sr., the love of her life. Not many years later, Jack and Stella moved to the Petoskey area in Epsilon, and there they raised their family.

Stella dedicated her life to the Lord at a young age and lived in the service of Jesus Christ throughout her lifetime. She and Jack were among the founding members of Harbor Light Community Chapel, where Stella taught Sunday school and Jack utilized his musical talents in worship service for several decades. Most recently, the two were members of the Inland Lighthouse Church of God in Indian River, MI.

Stella busied herself many years transporting the disabled and assisting Jack in the family upholstery business.

Though Jack and Stella shared a number of hobbies throughout their lives, among them boating, camping, dancing, and playing bridge, more often than not, they could be found in fellowship with their Christian friends.

“Mom,” Stella was never one to “hide her light under a bushel.” Rare was the day or event that she wasn’t sharing the good news of the gospel, whether with a friend or a stranger.

So appropriately named Stella, “Star” in Latin, “Pillar” in Greek, she was born the shining, guiding star and the pillar of spiritual strength within her family and friends. Her smile, her hugs, her prayers and spirit filled words of encouragement will be sorely missed.

Stella was preceded in death by her father and mother, Herbert and Margaret Page, two brothers, Roy and Raymond Page, her sister Virginia Stevenson (Page), and just three months prior to her passing, her beloved husband Jack.

Stella is survived by one brother, Ralph Page; three sisters Alice M. McMillan, Ruth Ann Hardy, and Joanne M. Gerard; her children, Jack J. Hersha, Jr., Gail A. Stradling (Hersha) and her husband James Stradling, Jr.; and Margaret Mason (Hersha); six grandchildren James Stradling III, Casey Stradling, Chad Stradling, Joshua Hersha, Jason Hersha, and Rebecca Hersha; as well as twelve great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Of course, the family would be remiss not to number among her survivors a multitude of brothers and sisters in Christ.

It was Stella’s desire not to have a funeral, however, a celebration of her life and the spreading of both her and Jack’s ashes will take place later this summer.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family wishes that you consider a contribution to the Inland Lighthouse Church of God in Stella’s name. May God Bless You!
