Alice J. "Joanie" Vieau

Alice Joan “Joanie” Vieau, age 82,of Cheboygan passed September 27, 2017 at McLaren Hospital in Petoskey. She was born October 26, 1934 in Kennard, IN, the daughter of Charles and Mary (McIntosh) Spencer. On April 17, 1954 in Flint, Joanie married Alvin Vieau who preceded her in death in 1995.

Alice was a cosmetologist for many years owning several Beauty Salons in the Flint Area. She then studied nursing at Mott Community College graduating in 1973. After retiring she moved to Rogers City in 1988 from Clio where she opened Vieau’s Embroidery in the 1990’s. She also kept herself busy working for Sav-A-Lot Foods and volunteered as a foster grandmother at East Elementary School.

Survivors include her five children, Jeane Waldorf, Annette Vieau and Andrew Vieau, all of Cheboygan, Alain (Darlene) Vieau of Clio and Bill (Mildred) Clark of Mt. Dora, Florida, 8 Grandchildren, Amber Vieau, Derrick Clark, Christopher Vieau, Steven Vieau, Lydia Belusar, Dakota Belusar, Amanda Darga and Kathy Waldorf and the proud great grandmother of 7 great grandchildren. Besides her husband Alvin, Joanie was preceded in death by her parents.

The funeral service will take place at the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home on Saturday, September 30 at 10:00 AM with the family greeting friends one hour prior to the service.  Pastor Cody Francis will officiate and burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Rogers City. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Seventh Day Adventist Church Parking Lot Fund.
