Lifelong area resident Allen R. Hannan, passed from this life on June 1, 2018 at McLaren Northern Michigan in Petoskey.
Allen was born in Petoskey on July 4, 1938 to Henry and Henrietta (Parish) Hannan. He grew up in Springvale Township where he attended the Curtis Country School. He entered service with the United States Army on November 22, 1961. He was stationed in Germany with the 79th Engineering Battalion and was honorably discharged from active service on November 11, 1963. Allen returned to Petoskey following his military service and went to work for the Bay View Association as a handy man laborer. He later worked as a custodian for Sheridan school.
Allen is survived by his loving wife Jessie, whom he married on August 5, 1978. He was a loving companion and a wonderful husband. Allen's faith in God was the cornerstone of his life, he had a deep and abiding faith. He never had children of his own, but developed close bonds with a number of his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt and fish. Other surviving members of his family include three of his brothers Raymond "Butch", David, and Gary (Annette) Hannan, and one sister, Joanne (Pete) Lewis, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and by 8 of his brothers and sisters.
Allen's life will be remembered and celebrated during a memorial service that has been planned for 11:00 a.m. June 22, 2018 at the Springvale Township Hall. The service will be led by Allen's nephew, Pastor Tim Green. Following the service Allen's wife and family will receive friends at a luncheon gathering, also at the hall.
