Arthur “Wayne” Bossingham, Jr, 67 of Oden, died July 8, 2019 peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family.
Wayne was born on March 30, 1952 in Traverse City, MI, the son of Arthur and Barbara (Antoine) Bossingham, Sr. and was raised in Interlochen. As a teenager, he and his family moved to Petoskey and he graduated from the Petoskey High school with the class of 1971.
He entered the US Armed Forces and served his country in both the Army and Marine Corps before he was injured and received his Honorable Discharge in 1980. Upon returning home, Wayne went to work as a Mechanic at various local shops before going to work for Williams Excavating for 15 years, following which, Wayne went to work as a private contracted Painter.
He enjoyed hunting, both fishing and ice fishing and snowmobiling. Wayne was a Jack of all trades, and master of all of them. There was nothing he couldn’t fix or be proficient at and enjoyed tinkering in his garage. He enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren and was always there to help those in need and lend a hand, whether it was for family or a neighbor. He always had a huge heart for those around him and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his son, Robert (Stephanie) Bossingham; 3 grandchildren, Kaden, Katelyn, and Madilyn; sister, Darlene Bossingham; 2 nieces, Roxanne (Scott) Page and Michelle Engle; and by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gerald; and by his beloved aunt, Adele Boyd.
The family will receive friends at the Stone Funeral Home on Monday, July 15th beginning at 1pm. Services celebrating Wayne’s life will follow at 2pm.
Those wishing to honor Wayne’s memory are asked to make a donation to the McLaren Hospice of Petoskey.
