Benjamin Kolly, 45 of Indian River, MI passed away on September 8, 2018.
Ben was born on February 25, 1973 in Detroit, MI. He is the son of Francis "Greg" Kolly and Mary (LaCourse) Kolly. He grew up in Petoskey and graduated from Petoskey High School in 1991. On June 19, 1999 he married Julie Altenburger of Toledo, OH. Ben enjoyed sports whether it was watching U of M or coaching local youth athletes. Ben was involved in coaching Tri-Rivers Little League teams as well as the local soccer and football teams. He also enjoyed boating and working on projects. Ben owned and operated Xcel Physical Therapy in Indian River. He was an amazingly generous man, always giving back to his community in any way that he could. His family was the light of his life; he was a remarkable husband, father, son, and brother. He was a past member of the Parks and Recreations board in Indian River as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a very involved parishioner at The Cross in the Woods Catholic Church in Indian River. Ben will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Ben is survived by his wife Julie Kolly and his three beautiful children: Andrew Jacob Kolly, Marissa Joelle Kolly, and Tyler Gregory Kolly. He is also survived by his parents Francis "Greg" Kolly and Mary Kolly, siblings Chris (& Eric) Daniel, Liz (& Bud) Jones, and Nicole (& Bill) Eaton, his beloved grandfather Frank Kolly, nephew Doug Daniel, nieces Emma, Maddie and Ellie Daniel, as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Madeline and John LaCourse, and Mary Jane Kolly.
Services for Ben will be held at The Cross in the Woods Catholic Church in Indian River. Visitation will be on Monday, September 17, 2018 from 5-8pm with a Rosary Service at 7pm. A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, September 18 at 5pm with the family receiving guests one hour prior.
Anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution in memory of Ben should consider the Tri-Rivers Little League and/or a college fund which will be set up for his three children.
