Betty would like to let you know that her work here is done. She received a call on October 26, 2018, sort of an offer that can’t be refused, for an appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Job security is exactly 110 percent. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, feeding the birds, singing and reading until her heart’s content. Music, love and laughter are guaranteed. She left detailed instructions for her children, extended family and friends to celebrate her mission here, which has now been completed. Low adherence to these instructions will not be tolerated.
Betty did a fantastic job on her mission of parenthood, exceptional faith, and deep friendships. We wish her a safe journey. We will remember her smile, her warmth, her gift of conversation and her giving nature. Betty made a difference in the community through her time volunteering at the food pantry, singing in the various care facilities & donating to various local causes. We invite you to join us and celebrate together. Betty specifically asked that you wear bright colors to celebrate her life - don’t be drab and mournful. Long live the beauty that comes down and through and onto all of us.
Betty is survived by her children Darren (Ginnie) of Harbor Springs, Dane (Jean) of Pinedale, Wyo., Douglas (Ruth) of Alanson, Duane (Doty Adams) of East Jordan, Daryl of Gaylord; daughter, Danette (Will) Kujat Swann, of Franklinton, N.C.; her brothers Harold Manke of Brown City, MI & Fred (Joyce) Manke of Troy, MI as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Mary DeMar & Charles Manke, her former husband, Daniel (2011), her daughter, Denise Mahlmeister (2012), her son, Daniel Geoffrey (2013) and her son, Derek Joseph (1959).
